Won the Swedish Amateur Order of Merit as a 19 year old after being introduced to golf by his friends and family who taught him how to swing the club at the Ljugdal Golf Club in Sweden. Coached by Richard Lindberg, Sjöstrand, like so many players of his generation, grew up idolising Nick Faldo but now cites Tiger Woods as the ultimate role model for any aspiring professional golfer. Played the sport ‘bandy’, which is almost a cross between ice hockey and football, to a high level before turning his attentions to golf.
