André Bossing Senior Tour debut

André Bossert made a dream start to life on the European Senior Tour by carding a four under par 68 in the first round of the Fubon Senior Open to lead by one shot.

The Swiss, who celebrated his 50th birthday the previous day, opened with a flawless round at Miramar Golf and Country Club in Taiwan, where he was playing with local legend TC Chen and Japan’s Massy Kuramoto.

Paul Wesselingh, who is currently second on the Senior Tour Order of Merit, was one shot back at three under – helped by an eagle three at the last – alongside his fellow Englishman Bob Cameron.

Money list leader Steen Tinning of Denmark and England’s Simon Brown, currently fourth, are teeing off in the afternoon in the season’s penultimate tournament.

Tinning, Wesselingh and Brown are all looking to land a decisive blow in the fight to take top spot.

With a first prize of €60,000 on offer to the winner, Tinning could seal the John Jacobs Trophy by notching his third victory of what has been a quite amazing rookie year on the Senior Tour.

Tinning is currently €9,932 ahead of Wesselingh and €45,386 clear of Brown at the top of the Order of Merit, and with same first prize of €60,000 on offer at the season-ending MCB Tour championship in Mauritius as there is in Taiwan, Tinning will be aiming to put the seal on a dream year that has seen him triumph at the Berenberg Masters and English Senior Open.
