Stop 18 on the Road to Mallorca has arrived as the HotelPlanner Tour heads to Scotland for the Scottish Challenge supported by The R&A. Here’s three players to look out for in Kelso…
Form Horse: MJ Daffue
After qualifying for the 154th Open at Royal Birkdale, where he made the cut, MJ Daffue took some time away from HotelPlanner Tour events but returns to action on the Road to Mallorca for the first time since Blot Play9 at the end of June. Despite missing the last three events, the South African still sits top of the season-long rankings and will be looking for his third win of the season this week, which would earn him instant promotion to the DP World Tour.
Local Boy: Rory Franssen
Rory Franssen became the second Satellite Tour graduate to taste victory on the 2026 Road to Mallorca, joining 2025 Pro Golf Tour Order of Merit winner Lars Van Der Vight in the winners’ circle with a three-stroke victory at the Infortar Estonian Challenge last week. The 27-year-old Scot had only made the cut twice in 11 starts before last week and made the most of his weekend golf in Tallinn, carding rounds of 66 and 67 to reach 19 under par for the week and better Andrew Wilson’s total of 16 under par. Franssen graduated from the Tartan Pro Tour at the end of 2025 after finishing top of the Order of Merit with three wins last term.
Outsider: Calum Fyfe
Scotland’s Calum Fyfe currently sits in 28th place on the season-long rankings and is on the hunt for his first HotelPlanner Tour win. The 29-year-old has been in fine form this term, with made cuts in each of his last four starts on the Road to Mallorca to add to his tied third place finish at the Jonsson Workwear Durban Open and tied fourth place finish at the Italian Challenge Open earlier on in the season. The Scot has enjoyed success in this competition previously, making the cut in all four of his appearances at the Scottish Challenge supported by The R&A. His best finish came in 2023, where he finished in a tie for 12th.
