Estonia becomes the 52nd country to host a HotelPlanner Tour event this week, as the Road to Mallorca moves into new territory. And with a new tournament come three new players to watch…
Form Horse: Julien Sale
Following his come-from-behind win at the Le Vaudreuil Golf Challenge earlier this month, Julien Sale has not taken his foot off the pedal. At the German Challenge powered by VcG the following week, the Frenchman fell just one shot short of winner Lars Van der Vight, firing a final round seven under par 65 to finish on 16 under par and in solo second. He then secured another top ten last week at the Raiffeisenbank Golf Challenge, again carding a low final round to shoot up the leaderboard. Sale isn’t afraid of a low one on Sunday, so don’t rule the in-form man out this week until the final putt drops.
Local Boy: Richard Teder
A trailblazer for Estonian golf, all eyes will be on Richard Teder this week as he makes his second consecutive start on the HotelPlanner Tour, following last week’s outing in the Czech Republic. Famous for being the first ever Estonian golfer to qualify for The Open Championship in 2025, Teder has continued to show his potential. The 21-year-old recently reached the semi-final of the 2026 Amateur Championship, where he narrowly lost 2&1 to eventual winner Stuart Grehan, having reached the quarter-final the year before. He also became just the second player from his country to play in a DP World Tour event earlier this year when he competed at the Turkish Airlines Open. He is expected to lead the charge in his home country’s debut professional event.
Outsider: Tatsunori Shogenji
Making his HotelPlanner Tour debut last week in the Czech Republic, not many were expecting Tatsunori Shogenji to fire an opening round six under par 65. Fewer were then ready for the man from Japan to back up his strong start with round of 68-67-67 to end the week on 17 under par, in a share of second place. But Shogenji is a winner of multiple events on the Japan Golf Tour and looks to be adapting to life very well over here in Europe, so will be looking to build on last week’s exceptional golf this week in Estonia.
