Cameron Adam targeting consistency ahead of home debut as a professional at Nexo Championship

Cameron Adam is determined to build momentum and consistency as he makes his first start as a professional on home soil at the Nexo Championship.

The Scot is in his rookie season on the DP World Tour after he topped the rankings on the Global Amateur Pathway - an initiative created by the DP World Tour, The R&A and the PGA TOUR that opens a pathway to the professional ranks.

Across 19 appearances so far across the 2026 Race to Dubai campaign, Adam has made 12 cuts but he has just one top ten in Kenya.

The 23-year-old appeared on track to improve on that record when he held a share of the halfway lead at the Danish Golf Championship last week but he was unable to sustain his challenge as he finished in a tie for 21st.

This week sees Adam take some of the spotlight as one of 15 Scottish players in the field for the final event of the Closing Swing, and he is relishing the opportunity to compete at Trump International Golf Links in Aberdeenshire.

"I'm excited to get going," he said. "I've just got to try and take the positives [from Denmark].

"It's finally kind of coming through, the goods there. It just needs to come through a bit more consistently and at the weekend hopefully at some point.

"But yes, to go and kind of play that well for Thursday, Friday, I've got to take that and bank it and try and run off of that into this week."

A course record 63 in the second round at Great Northern earned him a $30,000 bonus through the Course Record presented by Nexo.

Adam is confident that is further evidence he has the game to compete among the best on golf's global Tour.

"I've definitely got to take confidence out of that and just try and do it a little bit more.

"It's obviously not every day that it gets going like that and sustains to be that good. So, just got to try and do that as much as I can.

Adam enjoyed a memorable 2025 that also saw him compete in The Open by winning the Open Amateur Series and represent Great Britain and Ireland in the Walker Cup.

Since making his professional debut at the DP World Tour at the BMW Australian PGA Championship last November, he has competed across 16 countries.

The step-up from the amateur ranks has brought with it tough moments, but he is enjoying the challenge.

"It's been great. It's very different," said Adam, who counts Robert MacIntyre as a source of advice having forged a friendship through a mentoring initiative by the Stephen Gallacher Foundation.

"There's a lot of travel and there's a lot of good players. I think that was kind of the big shock initially, was kind of how well you have to play to sustain a good level.

"But it's all been brilliant, everyone's super friendly and I'm just happy to be playing golf really."

Adam begins the week 118th on the Race to Dubai Rankings Delivered by DP World, with the top 100 retaining a full card for the 2027 season.

While his starts are likely to be limited across the upcoming Back 9, he is keeping his focus on the here and now.

"Good golf takes care of itself, so just got to go and play the best that I can and hopefully that opens up more opportunities and kind of keep flowing from there," he said.
