Adri Arnaus is looking to draw on past experience at Pecanwood when he tees it up in the MyGolfLife Open hosted by Pecanwood Estate this week.
The Spaniard was part of the DP World Tour field at Pecanwood Golf & Country Club in 2022, carding rounds of 70-65-65-67 to share the 72-hole lead with countryman Pablo Larrazabal and Englishman Jordan Smith.
Arnaus would go on to miss out in a play-off to Larrazábal on that occasion, but is hoping for another tilt at the title when play gets under way in Hartbeespoort for the second of four co-sanctioned events between the HotelPlanner Tour and the Sunshine Tour in South Africa.
“Every hole has a bit of a memory for me from back in 2022,” he said. “I played amazingly then, so I’m just trying to recreate some of those feelings for this week.
“I just came up one short then, but at the end of it, it was a really good week and it will always be a highlight for sure.”
Arnaus secured a maiden DP World Tour title less than two months later, on home soil in the 2022 Catalunya Championship.
The 30-year-old is looking to bounce back to golf’s Global Tour at the first opportunity after losing playing privileges in 2024, and after finishing tied 30th in the opening event of the HotelPlanner Tour season last week, is looking to continue his return to form this week.
“South Africa is the best place to for me to be right now, as I try to get my golf game going and hopefully I can get some good results,” he added.
“I’m just focussing on playing good golf wherever I am, and that will hopefully dictate what I do this year.
“It’s fantastic to be down here, in South Africa in the summer time, and obviously enjoying courses like this one, which is in perfect shape. It’s good to be here and I’m looking forward to it.”
Arnaus joins a strong field at Pecanwood this week that includes two-time DP World Tour winner and current Race to Dubai Number Three Shaun Norris, last week’s SDC Open winner Daniel van Tonder and Italian Renato Paratore who also has two DP World Tour wins to his name.
The opening round of the MyGolfLife Open hosted by Pecanwood Estate gets under way tomorrow at 6:30am local time, with Arnaus teeing off alongside Norris and Paratore at 12:10pm.
