The European Tour group has announced a new G4D (Golf for the Disabled) match between Europe and the United States at the 2027 Ryder Cup in Ireland, to mark the Ryder Cup’s 100th anniversary.
This exciting new event signifies the latest chapter of the European Tour group’s involvement in G4D. Alongside the new G4D Ryder Cup, the European Tour group will continue to operate the annual G4D Open, in partnership with The R&A, which moves to the 2010 Ryder Cup venue at Celtic Manor in Wales this year. The G4D Tour, created in 2022, will not stage any events for the foreseeable future.
The Tour is proud of the significant amount of time and money it has invested in growing G4D to what it is today, with 32 G4D tournaments staged at DP World Tour and HotelPlanner Tour events and 73 players from 29 different nationalities competing. In that time, the number of people playing competitively has grown significantly, with a 270% rise in the number of Access Passes granted.
G4D is now entering a new chapter, with a wider range of stakeholders organising events.
For example, multiple National Opens have been created by National Federations.
The European Tour group established the G4D Tour to grow participation and ultimately strengthen golf’s case for joining the Paralympics. This will remain a key focus - using its influence and the momentum generated by the G4D Tour to help achieve this.
