All to Play For: Eugenio Chacarra hoping to emulate Seve Ballesteros and Jon Rahm after topping Race to Dubai Rankings

Eugenio Chacarra insisted "it would mean the world" to join fellow Spaniards Seve Ballesteros and Jon Rahm on the list of Harry Vardon Trophy winners after reaching the top of the Race to Dubai Rankings Delivered by DP World on Sunday.

Chacarra recorded a two-shot victory at the DP World India Championship to secure his third title of the 2026 season and soar to the top of the standings ahead of Patrick Reed in second and Rory McIlroy in third.

There is still a lot of golf to be played between now and the end of the season but, after winning at Delhi Golf Club, Chacarra stressed how special it would be to put his name alongside Spanish golfing icons such as Ballesteros and Rahm.

He said: "It would mean the world.

"Those two guys are heroes for me as a Spanish golfer. Seve did everything for European and Spanish golf, and then Jon, it's a guy that I've been looking up to since he went to college and professional golf.

"What he has accomplished, it's amazing. Hopefully I can put my name on that trophy too. That's one of the goals.

"I know it's not going to be easy. Rory in Dubai always plays well and I know it's going to be a big battle. Patrick too.

"Two of the best players in the world coming for me now, and I know they're not going to make it easy."

McIlroy is attempting to become an eight-time winner of the season-long race and knows he will have his work cut out.

He said: "Eugenio is playing well. He's overtaken Patrick in the Race to Dubai. That makes my job a bit harder going into the last two events."

Chacarra has the chance to extend his lead at this week's Genesis Championship with Reed and McIlroy not in the field but Casey Jarvis - fourth in the season-long standings - could go second and make a small dent into the advantage with a good showing of his own.

Daniel Hillier, two shots adrift of Chacarra in second place in India, may have missed out on his second DP World Tour title but the New Zealander can take great consolation from his third runner-up finish of the season.

After narrowly missing out on securing dual membership with the PGA Tour last year, he is now up to eighth on the Race to Dubai and in line to claim one of the ten cards on offer for those players not otherwise exempt.

Two weeks on from winning the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, Adrian Meronk excelled once again to finish in a share of third place alongside Angel Hidalgo and the Pole is now guaranteed for the DP World Tour Championship next month alongside the Spaniard.

Italy's Gregorio De Leo, a graduate of Qualifying School last year, moved inside the top 50 on the season-long rankings and will make his DP World Tour Play-Offs debut next month, with the experienced Joost Luiten up to 51st and closing in on playing his way to the Rolex Series season finale in Dubai.

With top tens in India, Tom McKibbin and Thomas Detry are now also assured of their Category 10 playing rights on the DP World Tour next season with Detry targeting another strong showing to extend his season further.

Eddie Pepperell finished 49th in New Delhi to move from 100th to 99th on the Rankings but will still be looking over his shoulder from afar as his rivals jostle for position in Korea this week at the last event of the regular season.
