‘Great to have a target like that’ – Canter focused on cracking world’s top 50
Canter has enjoyed a fine start to 2025, with his win in Bahrain coming on the back of a solo third-place finish at the Rolex Series’ Hero Dubai Desert Classic.
Prior to that, the 35-year-old helped Great Britain & Ireland defeat Continental Europe in the Team Cup, contributing three points from his four matches.
He will hope to continue his fine form at the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters this week, with his focus on continuing to climb the Official World Golf Ranking.
“Delighted (with how I’m playing). I now my head fully into trying to climb the world rankings,” he said.
“This is going to get me some points and I’ve not got many to defend, so I’ll do everything I can to get myself in that top 50 and open up the opportunities that brings. I’m not that far off it now, and it’s great to have a target like that.
“We’ve got a lot to play for out here. The PGA TOUR carrot at the end of the year, but actually there are so many things during the season that you can play your way into.
“Personally, I’m very motivated to do that at the moment. I feel like I’ve got a nice run of it in front of me.”
