Jeunghun Wang opened up a three-shot lead on day three of the Nedbank Golf Challenge hosted by Gary Player after firing an eagle and five birdies in his first 11 holes.
The 21 year old began the day five shots adrift of halfway leader Alex Noren after following up Thursday's 68 with a 73 on Friday.
But the two-time European Tour winner closed the gap courtesy of birdies at the first and second holes.
Wang then chipped in from just off the green for a birdie at the fourth before picking up another shot at the sixth to get to seven under.
And when Noren carded a double bogey at the third, Wang found himself tied at the top with home favourite Louis Oosthuizen.
Wang then safely parred the seven, eighth and ninth holes to reach the turn in 32.
And after coming within a few feet of getting an albatross at the long tenth, he tapped in for an eagle to move to nine under before holing his very quick birdie putt at the 11th to extend his lead to three strokes.
Noren was his nearest challenger on seven under after bouncing back from a disappointing double bogey with a birdie at the fifth.
Oosthuizen and Chris Wood were another stroke back on six under, with Jaco van Zyl on five under.
