The South African sits in pole position on the Rankings with 742.4 points after back-to-back victories at the season opening SDC Open followed by the MyGolfLife Open hosted by Pecanwood Estate. The 12-time Sunshine Tour winner also finished in the top ten at the Cell C Cape Town Open in association with Honor and NTT DATA Pro Am to further extend his advantage at the top of the Rankings.

Van Tonder, who also leads the Sunshine Tour Orde of Merit, is now targeting automatic promotion to the DP World Tour with a third HotelPlanner Tour victory of the year. The South African would become the 15th HotelPlanner Tour player to win three or more titles in the same season to earn automatic promotion to the DP World Tour, with Englishman John Parry and Denmark’s Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen both achieving the feat in 2024.

Wilco Nienaber occupies second spot on the Rankings, 334.2 points behind van Tonder, following victory at last week’s NTT DATA Pro Am and a tie for fifth at the SDC Open. The big-hitting South African exhibited a remarkable display of frontrunning to secure a convincing seven-stroke wire-to-wire victory and win the event for the second time at Fancourt Golf Estate.

Jamie Rutherford has made a terrific start to the season after securing his maiden HotelPlanner Tour title at the Cell C Cape Town Open in association with Honor, before finishing in a tie for sixth at the NTT DATA Pro Am. The Englishman sits in third position on the Road to Mallorca Rankings and will be hoping this will finally be the year he can finish in the top 20 after narrowly missing out on his DP World Tour card over the past two seasons.

Sam Jones, from New Zealand, and Ireland’s Liam Nolan have both recorded two top ten finishes each to occupy fourth and fifth positions on the Rankings respectively.

The Road to Mallorca takes a three-week break before heading to India for the Kolkata Challenge at Royal Calcutta Golf Club from March 13-16.
