The Road to Mallorca visits the Czech Republic for the first time this year as Golf & Spa Kunětická Hora hosts the D+D REAL Czech Challenge. Here’s everything you need to know for the week ahead.
Tenth edition
This week will mark the tenth edition of the D+D REAL Czech Challenge and the event will once again take place at Golf & Spa Kunětická Hora. The par-70 layout located in Dříteč has hosted eight of the previous nine editions, with its first taking place in 2012 when Andreas Hartø reigned victorious.
Record-breaking history
The D+D REAL Czech Challenge has been a happy hunting ground for many on the European Challenge Tour, none more so than South Korea’s Minkyu Kim. In 2018 Kim etched his name into the record books by becoming the youngest winner in Challenge Tour history.
At 17 years and 64 days, he recorded a three-shot victory over Sweden’s Sebastian Soderberg to eclipse the previous record set by German Dominic Foos, who won the GANT Open in Finland aged 17 years and 347 days.
Czech double
The Road to Mallorca will visit the Czech Republic twice in 2022, with the D+D REAL Czech Challenge being followed by the Kaskáda Golf Challenge which returns to the schedule in two weeks. The Challenge Tour has featured two tournaments in the Czech Republic since 2017.
