Tom McKibbin almost makes another ace in South Africa

Tom McKibbin said South Africa's par threes must suit him after coming within inches of adding another ace to the one he made there two years ago.

The Northern Irishman's last hole-in-one came at Blair Atholl Golf & Equestrian Estate in December 2022 during the first round of the Investec South African Open Championship.

And back on South African soil for this week's Alfred Dunhill Championship at Leopard Creek Country Club, history nearly repeated itself as McKibbin went agonisingly close to holing his tee-shot on the fifth.

His magnificent effort pitched beside the hole before jumping left and finishing up inches from the cup.

During his on-course interview, McKibbin said: "That one was very close - a couple of inches.

"I actually just said to my caddie I haven't had a hole-in-one since my last one in South Africa so there must be something about par threes here that I quite like."
