Slattery bags big bird in India

Lee Slattery made a spectacular albatross during the second round of this week's Hero Indian Open - his first in 926 rounds on The European Tour.

The Englishman's moment of brilliance arrived on the eighth hole at Delhi Golf Club as Slattery made two "perfect" swings of his three wood to cover the 518-yard par five in just two magnificent blows.

"I hit a perfect three wood off the tee down to the right side and that opened up the green nicely," said two-time European Tour winner Slattery, who is making of the special moment.

"I had a great yardage - 261 yards into the wind - and I hit a really nice three wood. It never really left the pin but I didn’t realised it had gone in until I started walking. The ball was resting against the pin but it eventually dropped. It is a nice feeling."

Slattery's fine effort was the first albatross of the 2016 season and the 95th in European Tour history. Four of those came last year, includingthis spectacular shotat Wentworth from England's Tommy Fleetwood.

Ironically for Slattery, he posted this photo during a practice round of a fancy, big bird on the course. Little did he know that he would bag one of his own just two days later.
