Double delight for Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen

Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen enjoyed a stunning weekend on both sides of the Atlantic as he guaranteed his place in the field for the Genesis Scottish Open and finished second on his PGA TOUR debut.

The Dane has long been marked as a rising star in Europe, turning professional in 2023 after a stellar amateur career and winning three times in 2024 on the HotelPlanner Tour to earn promotion to the DP World Tour.

Despite playing just 11 DP World Tour events - with six of those appearances coming on the Back 9 after his promotion - last season, he managed to finish in the top 114 on the Race to Dubai Rankings to improve his category before returning to the HotelPlanner Tour to claim the Road to Mallorca title.

He started the 2025 season with a top ten and then represented Continental Europe at the Team Cup before starting the International Swing with another top ten at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic in his Rolex Series debut.

A runner-up finish at the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters represented his best DP World Tour finish and those results helped him finish tenth in the International Swing rankings and take the place at the Genesis Scottish Open available to the player highest on the rankings who is not already exempt*.

And while the International Swing was wrapping up at the Joburg Open, Neergaard-Petersen was doing some globetrotting of his own, crossing the Atlantic to make his PGA TOUR debut at the Puerto Rico Open.

He opened with rounds of 64 and 65 and while a third-round 73 looked to have ended his chances, he briefly led on the final day as he fired a closing 63 before eventually finishing three shots behind Australia's Karls Vilips at 23 under.

“When I made the putt on the 15th is when I thought if I can post a good number, we'll see,” Neergaard-Petersen, who made six birdies in a row from the tenth, told the PGA TOUR.

“I'm super happy for the day. I'm looking forward to another opportunity.”

PGA TOUR opportunities will come Neergaard-Petersen's way before July but he can now be sure he will tee it up at the co-sanctioned event at The Renaissance Club for his second Rolex Series appearance.

*Should Neergarrd-Petersen become exempt before close of entries, the place in the field at the Genesis Scottish Open will go to the next highest-ranked non-exempt player on the International Swing rankings.
