As the D+D REAL Slovakia Challenge teed off there was one major talking point in the clubhouse among the players: the par six.
Measuring 782 yards, not only is the 15th the longest hole in European Tour and Challenge Tour history but also the first par six played in competition on either tour.
As you can see below, the hole certainly provoked some discussion, with most players enjoying its uniqueness rather than favouring tradition.
“I like it, how often can you get to play a par six? It makes it exciting and adds a different element.”Brandon Stone
“It is interesting, but I think it should stick as a par five.”Daniel Gaunt
“I think it is nice to have to think outside of the box, it’s unique and very cool. It now makes the course play slightly harder.”Wallace Booth
I like it! Different is good
“It is a birdie opportunity, definitely. If you don’t mess it up there’s going to be a lot of low scores there this week I think.”Ricardo Gouveia
“It’s fun for this week but should stay as a par five in future.”Steven Brown
“In 36 years in golf this is the first par six I’ve played, so it’s a change! I’d keep it as a par six.”Phillip Archer
“Don’t miss the fairway!”Robert Coles
“Keep it as a par six.”Callum Shinkwin
“I think it’s good to vary some holes.”Jamie McLeary
“I think it would be good to keep it as a par six.”Joel Sjöholm
“For a bit of fun, it’s ok.”Thomas Linard
“I like it! Different is good and it is a fair hole.”Rhys Davies.
