Our Best Facebook Lives of the 2017 Season

From a chipping clinic with Alex Noren at Wentworth, to a tour of the grand clubhouse at Valderrama with Masters Champion Sergio Garcia, with a couple of live Rolex Series winner Q&As thrown into the mix, our team have travelled around the world with our players to bring you some great, raw live moments on Facebook Live.

Here we pick out the best ten Facebook Lives of the season…

Alex Noren giving tips at Wentworth

A live chipping and bunker clinic with Alex Noren at Wentworth

The beautiful short game area at the back of the famous Wentworth clubhouse was the destination for our live chipping clinic with Alex Noren, and who better to get short game tips from than one of golf’s most creative players. The Swede, who was perhaps inspired by the 20 minutes he spent with us on the Wednesday ahead of the BMW PGA Championship, went on to win the first Rolex Series event of the season in spectacular fashion, thanks to a course record 62 on Sunday. We think the 35 year old’s short game tips are certainly worth listening to…

A live tour of the Valderrama Clubhouse with the Masters Champion

Sergio Garcia’s favourite golf course in the world is Real Club Valderrama, the beautiful layout in the south of Spain which played host to this year’s Andalucia Valderrama Masters hosted by the Sergio Garcia Foundation. On his first visit back to Valderrama since winning his maiden Major Championship at the Masters in April, the Spaniard gave up some of his time to take us on a live tour of the clubhouse, taking in the museum area which features a memorial to the late, great Seve Ballesteros, and a certain Ryder Cup trophy…

Live on the range at the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open at Portstewart GC

What better setting for a range Facebook Live than at the beautiful links of Portstewart Golf Club in Northern Ireland, where we went live for almost an hour ahead of the third round of the Irish Open. During that time we spoke to Dave Horsey and Fabrizio Zanotti, while former professional golfer Gary Murphy got up close and personal with the likes of Hideki Matsuyama and Jon Rahm to analyse their unique swings for us. Luckily for us it was a rare benign day in that part of the world…

A live Rolex Series winner Q&A with Tyrrell Hatton after his thrilling Italian Open victory

Barely half an hour had passed between Tyrrell Hatton making it back-to-back to wins courtesy of a ten foot birdie putt on the final green, to when the Englishman went live on Facebook to share his emotions and react to his biggest European Tour win to date. Always engaging and honest, Tyrrell reflected on his fist pump celebration and fielded plenty of questions from eager fans via the live stream…

Live for Thomas Pieters’ practice round at the US PGA Championship

As golf fans we often don’t get up close and personal with the stars of the game on practice rounds, especially at Majors, but that’s exactly what we were able to do on the eve of the 2017 US PGA Championship at Quail Hollow Club. The confident Belgian gave us his tips on how to prepare for the Majors, and even challenged our reporter to a putting competition just to show how tricky the greens in North Carolina were. Unfortunately for Thomas though, he came second in that particular contest…

Practicing at the Gary Player Country Club with Haydn Porteous

Haydn Porteous is a real character, so who better to show us around the famed Gary Player CC than the two-time European Tour winning South African. Playing the scenic final two holes, both of which are demanding at the best of times, and even more so in a live environment, Haydn showed us how to hit the perfect tee shot over the water at 17, discussed how he copes under the pressure of the TV cameras, and his favourite ways to celebrate…

Live at the Jigger Inn with Luke Donald and former footballer Jamie Redknapp

Always a favourite week on the European Tour, the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in Scotland provides the players with a more laidback platform to enjoy their golf, both on the course and off it too. Away from the joys of Kingsbarns, St. Andrews and Carnoustie you’ll often find the players hanging out with their celebrity playing partners at St. Andrews’ famous pub, the Jigger Inn. So we thought we’d get in among the action and speak to former World Number One Luke Donald and his playing partner Jamie Redknapp to chat about what it’s like to play the event, among other things…

Live revisiting Padraig Harrington’s first title in eight years in Portugal

Always full of energy and advice, we took Padraig Harrington back to the place where he helped seal his first European Tour title in eight years at the Portugal Masters, the 18th green at the Dom Pedro Victoria Golf Course. Or to be precise, just off the back of the final green, which was where the Irishman pulled of a fine escape to get up-and-down in 2016 and seal victory. Harrington took us through the shot again, while offering up plenty of his own tips for how to improve your short game. It’s always worth hearing what a three-time Major Champion has to say…

Live with Justin Rose in the aftermath of his Turkish Airlines Open win

Like Hatton, Rose won back-to-back events on the European Tour this season at the WGC – HSBC Champions and Turkish Airlines Open and our team was on-site in Turkey to capture Rose’s thoughts and feelings following his birdie at the final hole. Always an eloquent speaker, Rose took us into the world of a Rolex Series winner by offering us his immediate reactions over a ten minute period, during which he also answered countless fan questions…

Live at the season finale in Dubai with US star Patrick Reed

In fitting style we rounded off our season of Facebook Lives at the final event of the 2017 Race to Dubai season, the DP World Tour Championship, Dubai. American star Patrick Reed was in town so we decided to follow him for the final two holes at Jumeirah Golf Estates. In true Reed style he delivered some good golf under pressure, especially at the 18th hole, and spent 20 minutes answering questions from our reporter and the fans on the stream…
