George O’Grady, Chief Executive of The European Tour, was awarded with the Christer Lindberg Bowl at the conclusion of the PGAs of Europe Annual Congress at Vilamoura in recognition of his global contribution to the game of golf.
O’Grady joins a long list of distinguished recipients of the PGAs of Europe’s most prestigious award including such luminaries as John Jacobs, Neil Coles, Sir Michael Bonallack, Peter Alliss, Ken Schofield, Jaime Ortiz-Patiño, Annika Sorenstam and Emma Villacieros.
The Christer Lindberg Bowl is awarded each year as a lasting tribute to Christer Lindberg, The PGAs of Europe's first President and Chairman, and in permanent recognition of truly outstanding contributions to golf over a lengthy period of time.
In his acceptance speech, O’Grady, the current Chairman of the World Golf Foundation, praised the efforts of the PGAs of Europe in uniting the golfing bodies of Europe and their work with the various Federations throughout the continent.
He said: “I am honoured to receive this award following so many distinguished administrators who have given their lives to the game. Following these great individuals makes me very humble.”
