Rory McIlroy made a good start to the first of the UBS Hong Kong Open with the Northern Irishman among the early leaders at two under par.
Starting at the tenth, McIlroy picked up birdies at the 14th and 16th at Hong Kong Golf Club in Fanling to reach the turn in 33, one behind frontrunner Paul Lawrie.
Former Open Champion Lawrie was three under through four holes after stringing together three consecutive birdies from the 11th.
Oliver Fisher was also at two under par after four holes while defending champion Ian Poulter, playing with McIlroy and Italian Edoardo Molinari, was even for the day midway through his first round.
Molinari was at one under par following a birdie at the 18th while John Daly was two over par after eight holes of his round due to bogeys at the tenth and 14th.
