Matt Wallace: What's In The Bag?

After returning to the winner’s circle on the DP World Tour for the first time since 2018, we dive into the bag of Matt Wallace to discover the tools of his trade.

Two years on from losing out in a play-off to Thriston Lawrence, Wallace put aside those memories to claim a long-awaited fifth DP World Tour success with victory in Crans Montana at the Omega European Masters.

With the Englishman not attached to one manufacturer, he uses a variety of clubs from different providers.

Starting at the top of his bag, Wallace uses the Ping G430 LST driver - in the 10.5˚ model - a club which helped him finish 12th on the SG: Off The Tee category and eighth for Driving Accuracy across the four rounds in the Alps.

When it comes to his fairway woods, the uses a 16.5˚ TaylorMade Qi10 Tour. After that, the 34-year-old uses a Titleist TSR2 at 18˚ of loft for his only hybrid in the bag.

Wallace uses the full set of 2021 Callaway X Forged CB irons, from four through to nine - these have remained the same since he first put them in at the 2022 KLM Open.

Like many other players on the DP World Tour, including last week's winner Niklas Nørgaard, he has the Titleist Vokey SM10's for his wedges, with 46, 50 and 54 degrees of loft and the SM10-WW Proto at 60˚.

He completes his bag with a Titleist Scotty Cameron Tour Only T-9 putter, from their 2024 range.

Wallace uses a 2023 Titleist Pro V1 X ball.

The clubs he used for his play-off victory are in full below:

  • Driver: Ping, G430 LST (10 degrees)
  • Fairway Wood: TaylorMade, Qi10 Tour (16.5 degrees)
  • 1st Hybrid: Titleist, TSR2 (18 degrees)
  • 4-9 Iron: Callaway X Forged CB 21
  • Wedges: Titleist Vokey SM10 (46 degrees, 50, 54), Titleist SM10-WW Proto (60 degrees)
  • Putter: Titleist SC Tour Only T-9 2024

Notes: No 3 iron

This was just his fourth start on the DP World Tour outside the Major Championships this season, with a few tweaks to his clubs since the KLM Open in June:

  • Switched his Titleist T200 utility iron (2) for an 18 degree Titleist TSR2 hybrid
  • Replaced his Callaway X Forged CB 21 set pitching wedge with a 46 degree Vokey SM10 wedge
  • Replaced his Odyssey O-Works Jailbird Mini with a Scotty Cameron Tour Only T-9

And, by comparison from his performance at the 2023 season-ending DP World Tour Championship where he shot a 60 in the third round, there have been further changes across his bag:

  • Switched his Titleist TSR3 driver for a Ping G430 LST
  • His 3 wood changed from a 15 degree TaylorMade Stealth 2 Plus to a 16.5 degree TaylorMade Qi10 Tour
  • Switched his Titleist T200 utility iron (2) for an 18 degree Titleist TSR2 hybrid
  • Wedges have changed from Vokey SM9’s to Vokey SM10’s
  • His putter changed from the Odyssey O-Works Jailbird Mini to a Scotty Cameron Tour Only T-9
