Former World Number One Donald is a two-time winner at Wentworth Club and will join a host of former champions at the famous venue from September 17-20, including career Grand Slam winner Rory McIlroy, Open champions Ryan Fox and Shane Lowry, defending champion Alex Noren, two-time winner Billy Horschel and five-time Rolex Series winner Tyrrell Hatton.
The field at the Rolex Series event also includes English Major champions Matt Fitzpatrick, Justin Rose and Aaron Rai, European Ryder Cup stars Ludvig Åberg, Tommy Fleetwood, Robert MacIntyre and Sepp Straka and another home favourite in three-time DP World Tour winner Marco Penge.
Donald, who lifted the BMW PGA Championship trophy in 2011 and 2012, will again lead Team Europe in the 2027 Ryder Cup at Adare Manor having claimed back-to-back victories at Marco Simone in 2023 and Bethpage Black in 2025.
He said: “It’s always a pleasure to return to the BMW PGA Championship. I have great memories from playing at Wentworth over the years, particularly those back-to-back wins, and the event just gets better and better. Playing in front of a home crowd makes the week even more special.”
Hovland will join a host of his team-mates from the famous victory in New York last year over the West Course.
The Norwegian, who secured his eighth PGA TOUR win at the Travelers Championship in June, has recorded top five finishes in his last three BMW PGA Championship appearances.
The three-time Ryder Cup player said: “I’m pleased to be able to add the BMW PGA Championship to my schedule this season. I’ve had positive results in my last few appearances at Wentworth so I’m hoping to build on those when I get back next month.”
