Tom Lewis made a flying start for the second tournament running at the BMW International Open at Golfclub München Eichenried.
The Englishman, who returned to form in stunning style with an opening 63 at the
Lyoness
Open powered by Greenfinity two weeks ago but faded to finish 30th, raced
to
seven under par after 11 holes in Munich.
The 22 year old, who shot to prominence with a first round 65 at The 2011 Open Championship, won the Portugal Masters on only his third professional start two years ago, but has not had a top ten finish in a
strokeplay
event since.
However, Lewis gave himself another excellent chance to end that run with six birdies, a bogey and an eagle on the long 11th.
Open Champion Ernie Els, France’s Alexander Levy and Argentine Tano Goya were second on five under, with former Ryder Cup stars Thomas Levet and Ross Fisher among those on four under.
