Laurie Canter will make his PLAYERS Championship debut later this month after climbing into the top 50 on the Official World Golf Ranking on Monday.
The Englishman finished runner-up at the Investec South African Open Championship over the weekend, losing to Dylan Naidoo in a play-off at Durban Country Club.
As a result, Canter has risen from 53rd to a career-high 42nd in the world and thus earned exemption into the PGA TOUR’s flagship event at TPC Sawgrass from March 13-16.
The 35-year-old won his second DP World Tour title last month, following his maiden victory at the 2024 European Open, as he claimed the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship in a play-off.
Across his six starts on the 2025 Race to Dubai, he also has a third-place finish at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic on the Rolex Series in January.
Such is his advantage in the International Swing standings with one event to go – this week’s Joburg Open – he is guaranteed to win the second of five global swings on the DP World Tour’s schedule.
