Defending champion Bernhard Langer enthralled around 80 youngsters from Surrey and Berkshire today as the accomplished host of a clinic on the practice range at Sunningdale ahead of the 2015 Senior Open Championship Presented by Rolex.
The 57 year old German, who captured his second Senior Open title by a record 13 shots at Royal Porthcawl last year, spent almost 45 minutes on the range delivering a master class to a wide-eyed group from age six to teenagers drawn from the host club and the four qualifying venues, Burhill, Camberley Heath, Foxhills and The Berkshire.
Langer, bidding to claim his third Senior Open title at Sunningdale, where he won the European Open during his main Tour career, explained the mechanics of his own swing and techniques to the youngsters and helped several of the group with some swing tips.
Afterwards, Langer met a group of interested spectators watching the action in former First Minister of Scotland, Alex Salmond, who was accompanied by Tasmina Ahmed-Sheikh, MSP for Ochil and South Perthshire; European Tour Chief Executive George O’Grady, R&A Captain George MacGregor and Sunningdale captain John Jermine.
