Joel Girrbach is hopeful he still has a chance to claim his maiden DP World Tour title on home soil after a third-round 67 at the 2026 Omega European Masters.
The 33-year-old was the only Swiss player to make the cut at his national open after a stunning 63 on Friday, and he continued his momentum during round three after mixing six birides with three bogeys.
That left Girrbach six shots adrift of leader Paul Casey, who is now a Switzerland resident, at ten under, but Girrbach hopes he can bulldoze his way up the leaderboard at Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club on Sunday afternoon.
"I had a pretty good start, I would say. First nine, minus four, and I was really solid on the back nine," Girrbach said.
"I hit a lot of good putts, but they just didn't drop. Maybe also a few weaker tee-shots on the back nine, but all in all, a decent round.
"That was cool. It was kind of like Sunday last year. Really enjoyed it and it's amazing.
"It would be incredible (to win). I think that's the goal as well, so it's still a lot to play for and we go for it.
"I mean, the wind was picking up as well this afternoon so it's making it a bit tougher as well. But, all in all, I think there is still a chance to get up there."
Maximilian Steinlechner admitted Crans Montana felt like a "third home event" after a flawless 63 moved him into a share of second at 13 under.
Birdies at the second, fourth, fifth, seventh, ninth, 14th and 17th saw the Austrian hold the clubhouse lead before he was joined by South Africa's Erik van Rooyen.
Casey and Van Rooyen also carded 63 as the Englishman surged three shots clear.
"Yeah, I mean, scoring was really good. I feel like ball-striking was very similar to the first two days, I just made some putts, and got everything up and down," Steinlechner said. "I was very happy with what I did today and looking forward to it tomorrow.
"It was a little cooler, I felt like the ball wasn't going as far, for example, yesterday afternoon. But I mean, when you know this, it's not too difficult to adjust and now it's getting a bit more windy than the first round, so it should dry out everything a little bit more, which only makes it more interesting.
"It's a great course to play, I enjoy the course. It feels a little bit like playing at home. Like a third home event and I enjoy it.
"I just grew up playing in those kinds of conditions. They just feel natural to me and just feel comfortable."
