It's not often a first reserve gets into a golf tournament on a Friday but that's exactly what happened to Jack Yule at the Husqvarna British Masters hosted by Sir Nick Faldo.
Normally once the final group on a Thursday tees off, that means the first reserve's chances are over and it's time to head home without teeing up.
But due to the adverse weather conditions around The Belfry, the second wave of round one starters had their tee times delayed until Friday so, after arriving at the golf course at 6.45am on day one, Yule had more waiting to do.
"Not a lot," he said of his activities on a long Thursday. "I drank a lot of coffee and waited a long time.
"There was rumour, there was hearsay but I was just waiting around and catching up with some of my friends I hadn't seen in a while."
Then on Friday, with 45 minutes notice before teeing off, came Yule's chance as the wrist injury Dan Brown had been battling recently became too much.
Yule even found out from the man himself as he watched him warm up.
"You've got to tee it really well around here and he hit two drivers and went: 'No, I think you're in'," said Yule.
"I don't like to see it but I'm grateful for the opportunity."
The Englishman went on to fire a 75 and will now need an impressive second effort to make the cut but as a Qualifying School graduate with two made weekends from 15 starts so far this season, he is determined to keep fighting.
"The opportunities are amazing," he said. "I've enjoyed my time on the DP World Tour so far.
"It can be anyone's week, you just need that one good week. I'm still waiting for mine but we'll keep grinding and see what happens."
