Husqvarna British Masters hosted by Sir Nick Faldo: Day three digest

Daniel Hiller and Marco Penge were on top, it was raining eagles (and just raining) and Patrick Reed was giving greenkeepers nightmares on day three of the Husqvarna British Masters hosted by Sir Nick Faldo.

Tied at the top

Daniel Hiller and Marco Penge will share the lead heading into a marathon final day. Events at The Belfry have been disrupted by weather all week but there were no delays on Saturday as the second round was completed and the final group reached the sixth in the third. In that final group were Penge and Hillier at 11 under and they will both return at 7.00am on Sunday to face 30 holes of golf. When the hooter sounded, they were both looking at birdie putts on the sixth green, with Penge 23 feet from the hole and Hillier ten feet closer. Northern Ireland's Tom McKibbin was a shot back having completed the sixth, with Paraguayan Fabrizio Zanotti and and South African Shaun Norris at nine under playing the eighth and sixth respectively.

Big birds galore

A gettable par five late in a round always provides drama and on Saturday the 17th more than did its job with Matt Wallace, McKibbin and Antoine Rozner all putting on a show.

Greenkeepers look away

We're not blaming Reed here, he had no other choice. But if you're into your lawn care, look away now.

Thunderbear rides the short stick

Thorbjørn Olesen holed a barely believable 182 feet and 12 inches of putts in round two. His longest were 45'4", 41'8", 31'2" and 20'9". That is some going.

Gavins breaks the streak

It was a god day for Daniel Gavins who earned his way into a final 36 holes for the for the first time since the 2025 Ras Al Khaimah Championship and played on a weekend for the first time since the no-cut Dubai Invitational earlier this year. Onwards and upwards, Daniel!
