The 2022 Irish Challenge will take place from July 28-31, 2022. The inaugural edition was played in October 2015 as Tom Murray defeated Nino Bertasio in a play-off.

Huizing’s heroics

Huizing trophy

Daan Huizing produced a sensational final round of golf to win the 2021 Irish Challenge and claim his third European Challenge Tour title after defeating Spaniard Eduard Rousaud in a play-off at Portmarnock Links.

The Dutchman carded a four under par round of 67, which included birdies at 16 and 18, to take the clubhouse lead at nine under par before Rousaud birdied the 18th with a stunning long-range putt to force a play-off.

Rousaud made bogey on the first play-off hole after missing a short-range putt, leaving Huizing with the chance to put his name up in lights and the 30-year-old duly converted to claim his third Challenge Tour victory and first since the 2019 Jordan Mixed Open Presented by Ayla.

Cuartero Blanco wins in play-off

Emilio Cuartero Blanco trophy

Emilio Cuartero Blanco secured an emotional maiden victory on the Challenge Tour after defeating Oscar Lengden on the third play-off hole of the 2019 Irish Challenge.

Cuartero Blanco and Lengden shared the 54-hole lead on 11 under par as the final round was cancelled due to a water-logged course. A play-off was required to determine the winner on the par three 17th hole and Cuartero Blanco birdied the third extra hole to secure his first victory on the Challenge Tour.
