Scotland is once again delighted to welcome the world’s leading golfers and tens of thousands of spectators to the Genesis Scottish Open, returning to the Renaissance Club in East Lothian.
East Lothian is celebrated internationally for its exceptional links courses and striking coastal scenery, making it a fitting setting for one of the most prestigious tournaments in the golfing calendar. The recently announced agreement confirming the Renaissance Club as host venue through to 2030 underlines its status as a world‑class stage for the Genesis Scottish Open, and it will be a pleasure to see the tournament continue to return here in the years ahead.
Scotland continues to demonstrate our ability to deliver exceptional sporting events, with a strong track record of success in showcasing the very best of men’s and women’s golf. Events such as the Genesis Scottish Open play a vital role in strengthening Scotland’s position as a leading destination for major international events. Indeed, this summer Scotland also plays host to the Commonwealth Games, taking place in Glasgow from 23 July to 2 August.
As the home of golf, the game is deeply woven into Scotland’s history and identity. Hosting tournaments of this calibre not only celebrates that heritage but also supports tourism, communities and the wider economy.
The Scottish Government is grateful to the DP World Tour, the PGA TOUR, Genesis, and all supporting partners for their ongoing commitment to the tournament. To everyone attending, I hope you enjoy a memorable week of golf. I wish all players every success.
