A host of European Tour stars have confirmed their participation in the Maybank Championship, with a stellar line up of the world’s top golfers set to join World Number Nine Henrik Stenson at Saujana Golf & Country Club from February 1-4.
Austria’s Bernd Wiesberger and France’s Alexander Levy return to Malaysia for the third instalment of the event having represented the victorious Team Europe earlier this year at the EurAsia Cup presented by DRB-HICOM. Both were European Tour winners in 2017 on Asian soil, with Wiesberger winning the Shenzen International and Levy the Volvo China Open respectfully.
Fabrizio Zanotti returns to defend his title, as well as past champion Marcus Fraser (2016), at the US$3million event held in Kuala Lumpur. They will tee it up alongside World Number 50 Yusaku Miyazato of Japan, who will be competing in the Maybank Championship for the first time.
Northern Irishman Darren Clarke, former Masters Champion Danny Willett, and Ireland's Paul Dunne, who recently won his first European Tour title at the British Masters supported by Sky Sports, will be joined by Danes Thorbjørn Olesen and 2018 Ryder Cup Captain Thomas Bjørn.
Two-time European Tour winner Dylan Frittelli, most recently winning the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open, his fellow countrymen Haydn Porteous and Dean Burmester, Thailand’s Kiradech Aphibarnrat and Andrew “Beef” Johnston.
Korean superstars Jeunghun Wang and Soomin Lee, who came through the ranks of Asian Tour and went on to win titles respectively on the European Tour, will be joined by Chinese Number One Li Haotong and Japanese superstar Ryo Ishikawa.
