Challenge Tour Member Julián Etulain of Argentina is in a share of the lead alongside César Costilla going into the final round of the 2011 TLA Televisa Players Championship on the Tour de las Americas.
Etulain reached the top of the leaderboard by firing a best-of-the-week round of 63 on Saturday to move to 11 under par at the Fairmont Acapulco Princess in Acapulco, Mexico.
First round leader Alan Wagner, who won on the Challenge Tour in Colombia last year, had to settle for a round of 70 to drop down to a tie for sixth place.
“I’m happy because every year I have come here I have been able to play well, just as I have done so far this year,” said Etulain, the 2010 TLA Player of the Year.
“I putted very well today. Yesterday I struck the ball great, I had no bogeys, but I was unable to sink many putts. Today, I was lucky to make several and I also struck the driver pretty straight, so I’m very pleased with how I played and the position I’m in.”
