Estrella Damm Catalunya Championship - Day three digest

Yurav Premlall and Oliver Lindell took contrasting approaches to a $50,000 bonus, Stefano Mazzoli conquered a tricky bunker and Andrew Johnston made a Beef sandwich at the 2026 Estrella Damm Catalunya Championship.

Here is everything you need to know from Moving Day at Real Club de Golf El Prat.

Premlall in the dark over record

As well as opening up a mighty five-stroke lead over nearest challenger Stefano Mazzoli, Yurav Premlall's stunning 63 will earn him the $50,000 bonus for the Course Record presented by Nexo if it is not beaten on Sunday - or if preferred lies are back in place after a rain-swept end to Saturday's play. The South African is focused only on securing a maiden DP World Tour win, though, and insisted the record never entered his thoughts. "Not at all," he said. "It didn't occur to me, not even when the putt on 17 went in - I didn't know what the course record was for starters. I mean, there is a bigger job on hand at the end of the day but that just happens to be a nice bonus that I can hopefully keep, so we will see."

Lindell had eyes on the prize

One man certainly with his sights on that bonus pot, however, was Oliver Lindell. The Finn's 65 was in pole position until Premlall birdied the final three holes and he revealed he had set out with that aim in mind - and his instincts proved accurate as to the score required, even if he identified the wrong challenger. Speaking before the end of Premlall's round, he said: "I heard it on the putting green before the round. I was thinking to shoot nine under would be enough, and then after missing that (five-foot putt) on the last, I wasn't that happy. But we'll see. I saw (Eugenio) Chacarra six under through 13, so let's see what happens.” Chacarra had to settle for five under but Premlall's big finish saw Lindell pipped to the prize as it stands.

Well done Beef

Popular Englishman Andrew "Beef" Johnston teed off early in the day and added to a solid week with a one-under-par 71 to end the day three under. That was despite a double-bogey six at the 12th and another dropped shot at the 14th, but was helped by what he did in between - a hole-in-one at the difficult par-three 13th, which otherwise produced just nine birdies all day. A six, one, five run with an ace on the second-hardest hole on the course... classic Beef!

Magic Mazzoli

With Premlall in the kind of form he showed on Saturday, it was going to take something special to stay in touch. Mazzoli, five back on 14 under par, gave it his best - helped by this spectacular bunker shot at the 13th.

'Who needs a green in regulation?'

Mazzoli was responding to playing partner and fellow challenger Lucas Bjerregaard's own chip-in a couple of holes previously as the chasing pack managed without their putters.
