Nacho Elvira is happy to be finding his feet again on The European Tour after firing an opening 66 to sit just one shot off the lead at Hero Indian Open.
The Spaniard regained his playing privileges thanks to three wins on The Challenge Tour last term but struggled for form initially in the 2016 campaign, missing his first six cuts.
The 29 year old made it into the weekend at the True Thailand Classic Presented by Chang last week however and, after spending a full season on The European Tour in 2014, he is hopeful patience will bring success this time around.
"I have been cold for a while," he said. "I was on The Challenge Tour last year, where I won three times, but coming back out on The European Tour can be tough and I have to be a little more patient. The more you play out here though, the more experience you gain.
"That is very true at this golf course as well – I think you have to have played at least five rounds here to know where you want to go.
"Last year when I came here I struggled so to come back and shoot 66 around this course makes me happy. I think I learned a lot from last year and having my caddie helped a lot too.
"I used the driver twice today and that was one too many. The important thing here is to put the ball in play and the right position. You have to be in the right position."
Fellow Spaniard Jorge Campillo also registered a 66 to sit one shot behind Daniel Im, and he could have joined the American at the summit had he not left a putt short on the last.
Despite that disappointment, the 29 year old was happy with his round and is hopeful of making a charge for a first European Tour title.
"I am pretty happy," he said. "It's a tough golf course and I managed to keep it in play off the tee.
"It was just a good solid round of golf. I just left it short there on the last, and did the same on the par five 14th so it could have been a little better but overall it's a good score.

France's Raphaël Jacquelin sits a shot behind the Spansh duo after a 67, the highlight of which was the 12th hole-in-one of the season on the par three fifth.
"That was a nice hole in one," he said. "I hit an eight iron and got a little lucky with the bounce on the right side of the green. You can see it on TV that it bounces on the right side of the green and then kicks towards the hole.
"Sometimes good things happen."
