Dylan Naidoo matches lowest DP World Tour round of season on home soil

Home favourite Dylan Naidoo was not thinking about the prospect of shooting a 59 as he matched the lowest DP World Tour round of the 2025 season on Friday - because he had no idea what his score was.

The 27-year-old carded an eagle, ten birdies and one bogey in round two of the Investec South African Open Championship to sign for an 11-under-par 61.

That saw him equal the lowest round of the year so far, posted by Brandon Robinson Thompson at the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship in January.

After Thursday's delayed start to the tournament, Naidoo had to return to finish his first round on Friday morning, adding two birdies to complete an opening 70.

He now heads into the weekend on 13 under par, one shot off the early clubhouse lead held by countryman Shaun Norris.

While others may have been wondering whether Naidoo could break 60 in round two after he turned in 30 blows before making an eagle, four birdies and one bogey on his back nine, he had no such thoughts.

The South African said: "It's crazy - I honestly had no idea what I shot.

"I was like 'maybe this putt's for 59, I have no idea'. Like I'm just trying to hit the best shots I can.

"It was a really good day's work, even the six holes we had to come back and play before round two.

"I was level par starting the day, so to finish at 13 under after 24-odd holes was really good.

"Like I said, I actually forgot my score. Honestly, I had no idea. I had a couple of spectators asking me on the 11th 'what's your score?'. I said 'I don't know. No clue'.

"So I just wanted to hit the best shot I could and it worked out well."
