Grasses

Greens: Bent Grass ‘Suttons Mix’

Tees: Mixture of Cooch and Wintergrass Bermuda

Fairways: Mixture of Cooch and Wintergrass Bermuda

Rough : Mix of natural heathland grasses

Fairways

Fairways are relatively generous and fast running.

Rough

Their is no real rough. Recent drought conditions has meant that the rough without any irrigation coverage has all but burnt away.

Greens

The greens Will be fast at approximately 12’ on the stimpmeter. They will be firm and are the main challenge and defence of the course. There are some Very subtle breaks and if you are above the hole on some greens, you have no chance of getting it close.

Course

The course will be relatively hard and fast due to drought, although some recent rain has slightly softened this. The lack of rough and some of the slopes on fairways will make it in some ways just as difficult as the surrounding scrub which is very tough will be more in play. This week is all about finding the fairway as pure striking will be essential to hold the greens. You must put the ball in the right part of the green, to ensure a putt from below the hole. We are close to the coast and the wind direction and strength is normally a major factor. This is a composite course of the East course (6 holes) and the West course (12 holes).
