Spaniard Alejandro Cañizares will remain at the top of category 11 for the remainder of the 2010 season after topping the second Re-Rank of the year.
Thanks largely to five top ten finishes from 20 appearances this season, Cañizares currently sits in 23rd place in The Race to Dubai with earnings of €676,879.
Scotland’s Stephen Gallacher, who like Cañizares secured his European Tour card at the 2009 Qualifying School – Final Stage, is two places higher on the money list than the Spaniard, having collected a total of €728,135 in winnings.
But the prize money he earned in the five events in which he competed on a sponsor’s invitation – including the BMW PGA Championship, where he collected €225,000 for finishing fourth – were rendered ineligible for the purposes of the Re-Rank, meaning he took second place on €417,174.
In third is Mark F Haastrup, with the bulk of the Dane’s earnings of €147,934 coming courtesy of his third place finish at the Estoril Open de Portugal.
The top five is rounded off by Scot Steven O’Hara (€115,282) and England’s Jamie Elson (€107,511), who finished runner-up at the dual ranking SAINT-OMER Open presented by Neuflize OBC.
All 39 players in category 11 – those who earned their cards at the Qualifying School or through finishing 11th to 20th in the Challenge Tour Rankings – will now remain in their positions until the end of the 2010 season.
