It may be almost a month since the Magical Kenya Open presented by absa but Njoroge Kibugu is still reaping the benefits of his performance on home soil.
Kenyan President William Ruto shakes hands with Njoroge Kibugu at the Magical Kenya Open
Kibugu made headlines at Karen Country Club by making the cut at the DP World Tour event as he went on to card a closing bogey-free 65 to finish in a tie for 61st.
It resulted in Kenya’s President William Ruto pledging to reward the 22-year-old with KES5 million (approximately €33,500/£29,000).
And on Tuesday, Salim Mvurya, Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports, presented the cheque to Kibugu – Kenya’s top-ranked golfer – in Nairobi.
“3 cheers for Njoroge! We take pride in our very own hero!” read a post on the Magical Kenya Open’s X account.
