Markus Brier moved up to second place on day two of his own tournament, the Karnten Golf Open by Markus Brier Foundation, after carding a four under par 68.
The Austrian moved to nine under for the tournament, one shot off the lead held by his compatriot Martin Wiegele, who posted a stunning ten under par 62 in the first round and who tees off later this afternoon.
Germany’s Nicolas Meitinger shot a 69 to reach eight under overall, while Anders Sjöstrand is seven under and is also among the afternoon starters.
“It was a bit different today as I was driving the ball really well but was not so good with my irons,” said Brier. “It was almost the opposite of yesterday. I only missed one fairway, but the irons were a little shaky and I didn’t give myself too many good birdie chances.
“I holed long putts for birdie at the third and the 11th and I chipped in for birdie at the 12th. I had a couple of close ones but I wasn’t as accurate as I was in the first round.
“This is a nice position to be in and I’m just going to try and keep it going over the weekend.”
