The victories of European Senior Tour Qualifying School graduates Magnus P Atlevi and Gary Marks have ensured that the Class of 2016 are the most successful in 14 years.
Marks graduated at the top of the class after finishing first at Pestana Golf Resort, Portugal in February and secured his first Senior Tour title at the inaugural Willow Senior Golf Classic, and Atlevi became the latest winner on Senior Tour with his win at the first edition of the Paris Legends Championship.
The last time more than one Qualifying School graduate won in the same year was back in 2002 when Brian Jones, Steve Stull, Dragon Taki and Gary Wintz all won after graduating in 2001.
Marks finished two strokes ahead of Mike Harwood at Hanbury Manor Marriott Hotel and Country Club to win his first event in 16 starts on the over-50s circuit.
His one-stroke victory in Portugal guaranteed a second season on the Senior Tour after finishing second at Qualifying School in 2015.
Atlevi, who narrowly missed out on a full card after 2015 Qualifying School, made amends earlier this year as he finished tied third on the Pinta Course.
The Swede, the youngest player to earn a card from the European Tour Qualifying School as a 17 year old in 1982, has enjoyed an incredible 2016 – his first full season on the Senior Tour.
He finished tied seventh in the opening event of the season, but was unable to break into the top 20 in the following two events.
His breakthrough came in July as he finished tied third with Ryder Cup great Bernhard Langer at the WINSTONgolf Senior Open and, a fortnight later, finished tied third at the Senior Open Championship Presented by Rolex.
A disappointing withdrawal due to injury at the Travis Perkins Masters in September was then followed by a remarkable victory at Le Golf National, host venue for The 2018 Ryder Cup in France.
Going into the final round one shot off the lead, he carded a two under par 69 to top the leaderboard by two strokes to secure the win at the inaugural Paris Legends Championship.
