The Spaniard is in a strong position as to earn playing privileges on the European Tour next year, with the top five at the end of the Road to Mallorca Rankings all earning additional playing rights in 2021.

However, that is not his priority ahead of the Cadiz double-header, instead intending to focus his mindset on the present.

“For me the key to these two weeks is to detach myself from the result of my game,” he said. “If I succeed and focus on the moment and what I must do, I do not know if it will be enough, but it will give me the satisfaction to know I gave it my best, which is what is important.

“I'm not one of those who are too worried about the Rankings, instead I will face it as one more week. If I give my best in every moment, I will have played my best golf.”

The 28-year-old already has European Tour experience, having spent two years at the top tier following Challenge Tour graduation in 2016, and he believes he has learned from that whirlwind period.

"Of course I want to return to the European Tour,” he said. “It is complicated when you go up so fast and then down, but you appreciate much more where you are. I know my time will come and I will be back.

“In my two seasons on the European Tour, I learned a lot, especially from my mistakes.

“After those two years I decided to make a technical change, I started working with Miguel Angel Duque and I am very happy, hence the results. We are making some changes in the swing, but it is a process that does not end.

“It is a few changes that for me are not natural, so it is a long process. I’m more comfortable at a golf course that does not demand me too much, as in Portugal.

“This week is going to be a challenge. I like the golf course, the variety of the nine holes towards the sea and nine between the pines with a super technical finish. The greens are small and you have to hit the irons very well.”
