Adam Bresnu says Dubai experience 'like a dream'

Adam Bresnu says making the cut at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic has been “like a dream”.

The 20-year-old from Morocco is one of three amateurs to have reached the weekend at Emirates Golf Club and a third-round 72 left him two under for the week going into the final round.

And Bresnu has enjoyed rubbing shoulders with some of the biggest names in golf.

“It's great to be here and make the cut,” said Bresnu. “It's like a dream.

“When I was a kid, I was looking at Adam Scott when he won the Masters. I was looking at that and now I just played with him. It was really nice.

“I played a practice round with Jon Rahm. It was nice, I remember I was looking in the practice round, and I was like, all right, who is playing. I saw the last tee times, Jon Rahm and I was like, 'oh, I'm going to play with him'.

“He's a nice guy. He gave me a few tips and same with Adam Scott. I think I have the potential. All I need now is just confidence, learn, and what they did, Adam Scott and Jon Rahm, they did it, they gave it to me. So now I think it's only a question of practice and time.”

Asked what Scott had told him, Bresnu added: “Well, he said 'keep it up, man. You played well. You have a place here. Just practice and you'll be here'."

Bresnu is keen to play on Tour full-time once he finishes college in the United States, having become the first Arab-born golfer to make the cut in a Rolex Series event.

“As I say, I have the potential,” he continued. “Now I will finish college and after I finish college, I know I will be on Tour for sure. Which one, I don't know yet. DP World Tour would be nice. Yeah, it's really nice to be here.

“I just wanted to make history. I made it a month ago in Saudi Arabia when I finished sixth in the PIF Saudi international. Making the cut here is a big thing.

“Yesterday I had so many calls. I was like, please leave me alone, I want to sleep! But that was nice, and it's nice - my goal is just to show the world that Arab players, we have the potential and we have the talent. Now it's only a question of time. I'm sure you'll have kids playing on the tour for sure. I'm really happy what I did, and also for the next generation.”
