Here is everything you need to know from the second round at Doha Golf Club.
Robinson Thompson holds outright lead courtesy of extraordinary eagle
Brandon Robinson Thompson takes a two-shot lead into the weekend after a stunning eagle on the 16th moved him out of the chasing pack's reach. The Englishman has been in fine form of late, smashing the course record with an opening 61 in Bahrain last week before sharing the first-round lead on Thursday in Doha. Morning starter Robinson Thompson kept the momentum going in the second round as he fired a spotless 68 which contained birdies at the eighth and tenth and a remarkable eagle two on the par-four 16th. He drove the 16th green, sending his tee-shot to four feet, before tapping in the eagle putt to climb to ten under par.
Bekirian makes history
Jean Bekirian became the first player representing Armenia to make a cut on the DP World Tour after following up his opening 68 with a 74 to head into the weekend on two under par. Bekirian, who changed his nationality from French to Armenian last year, is making his third start of the 2025 Race to Dubai after earning his DP World Tour card via Qualifying School. "Every first time is very difficult," Bekirian said. "So I’m very happy about that. I’m happy for my country of Armenia too."
Bunker brilliance from Fitzpatrick
Alex Fitzpatrick got off to a dream start on Friday as he holed his 20-yard bunker shot at the first for an eagle. Check this out...
Li nearly makes awesome albatross
Li Haotong's spectacular approach at the par-five tenth went so close to going in for an albatross, but after burning the edge of the hole, the ball somehow stayed above ground. As consolation prizes go, though, a tap-in eagle is not a bad one.
Veerman also goes oh so close
Johannes Veerman went agonisingly close to making a hole-out eagle at the second as his approach from the rough took a few hops on the green before rolling to the side of the hole.
