Brandon Robinson Thompson made his way to the top on day one for the second week in a row while Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen also reached six under in the first round of the 2025 Commercial Bank Qatar Masters.

Here is everything you need to know from round one at Doha Golf Club.

Neergaard-Petersen and Robinson Thompson share lead

Robinson Thompson finds himself out in front after day one for the second week in succession, this time sharing the honour with Dane Neergaard-Petersen. Robinson Thompson smashed the course record as he opened with a 61 in Bahrain last week and he got off to a fast start again on Thursday, firing a 66 to join early clubhouse leader Neergaard-Petersen at the summit late on. The highlight of the Englishman's round came at the eighth - his penultimate hole - where he made a 60-foot birdie to grab a share of the lead. Neergaard-Petersen recovered from an opening bogey with seven birdies in his morning 66 to reach six under par.

Canter an inch from ace

Laurie Canter could not have gone much closer to making a hole-in-one at the eighth on day one, burning the edge of the hole with his spectacular tee-shot. Last week's winner was less than an inch away from celebrating the fifth ace of the year.

Pineau's stunning start

Pierre Pineau started from the tenth tee and got off to a dream start, birdieing each of the first four holes and rolling in some massive putts along the way. After getting up and down for an opening birdie on the long tenth, the Frenchman holed from 33 feet on the 11th before converting putts from almost 20 feet at the 12th and 13th to reach four under. He was still on that score when play was suspended due to darkness 16 holes into his round and will return early on Friday morning to see if he can get any closer to the co-leaders at the top.

Bairstow makes very slippery putt

Englishman Sam Bairstow judged his tricky 28-foot putt to perfection at the ninth hole on Thursday, trickling it in for a brilliant birdie. Check this out...

Grenville-Wood's phenomenal par save

The United Arab Emirates' Joshua Grenville-Wood was riding high as he got to the 11th tee after becoming the first player to make an eagle on the tenth in round one. But he was brought back down to earth as his tee-shot headed towards the trees on the left side. He eventually found the green in three but still had 40 feet left for his par. And he nervelessly holed the putt.
