The Scottish Hydro Challenge welcomed the Ryder Cup trophy to the Macdonald Spey Valley Golf Course today, where children from Aviemore Primary School – who were taking part in The Scottish Government’s hugely successful Clubgolf programme – had the chance to pose with the world-famous trophy.
Many were dreaming of getting close to it once again when Gleneagles hosts The Ryder Cup in 2014.
Government agency EventScotland, that are now into their sixth year of funding the Scottish Hydro Challenge and the event is part of a portfolio of international events that will create a lasting legacy from The Ryder Cup.
The growth of the event and home-grown players over the years reinforces the strength of events and players in ‘The Home of Golf’. By working from grassroots level with Clubgolf - which aims to give every child in Scotland access to the game - through to the professional ranks, Scotland can continue to be a top golfing nation far beyond 2014.
