The Challenge Tour returns to Scotland this week for the 16th edition of the Farmfoods Scottish Challenge supported by the R&A, taking place at Newmachar Golf Club from August 8-11. Here are three players to look out for…
Form horse - Hamish Brown
Hamish Brown arrives in Aberdeen off the back of four consecutive top 20 finishes on the Road to Mallorca that have lifted him to fifth place on the Road to Mallorca Rankings. The Dane won his maiden Challenge Tour title in June at the Kaskáda Golf Challenge, and will be looking to add another victory in Scotland which would see him take another huge step towards promotion to the DP World Tour.
Local boy - Bradley Neil
Bradley Neil is part of a strong Scottish contingent at Newmachar Golf Club this week, and the 28-year-old will be feeling right at home on the heathland course.
Neil, who has been playing on the Tartan Pro Tour this year, confirmed his place in the field in June after he produced a sensational 11-under-par closing round of 61 to win the Newmachar Classic presented by Bokalis, so he will certainly be someone to keep an eye on this week.
The outsider - Javier Sainz
Javier Sainz has been ever-present on the 2024 Road to Mallorca, having played 16 tournaments already this season, but the Spaniard is still searching for a statement result to boost himself up the Rankings from his current position of 78th. He will have every chance of accomplishing that this week as he returns to the course where he won his maiden Challenge Tour title in 2022.
