The European Challenge Tour has withdrawn David Boote from this week’s Challenge de España after the Welshman was identified as a contact of someone who has tested positive for COVID-19.
The notification was received on the evening of Sunday November 1 after Boote had arrived at Iberostar Real Novo Sancti Petri Golf Club with proof of a negative test. It was identified from a contact before he entered the tournament bubble.
Boote is exhibiting no symptoms and has subsequently returned another negative test on site in Spain, but he has been withdrawn from the tournament as a precaution.
In accordance with Spanish public health guidelines, he will now continue to self-isolate for a minimum of ten days. He will be supported throughout that period by the Challenge Tour’s medical and event staff.
Boote will be replaced in this week’s Challenge de España by Sweden’s Christopher Sahlstrom.
