Jon Rahm shot 65 to move within two of leader Angel Hidalgo - and set up an all-Spanish final group also featuring David Puig - despite playing much of the round without the longest club in his bag. Rahm's driver suffered damage early in his round, affecting his tactics on the sixth and seventh holes, before being repaired and returned to him on the back nine. The three-time Open de España champion said: “I was happy to hear on 12 that I was going to have it by 14. I think it might have been a little moment of happiness that gave me a boost for the rest of the round.”

Reed savours atmosphere with Rahm

Patrick Reed got to savour playing with Rahm in front of the latter's home crowd and hailed the experience as "awesome". The United States Ryder Cup star - who insisted he is "still in this golf tournament" after a third-round 68 left him tied fourth with Dean on eight under, five off Hidalgo's lead - said: "The amount of people that were out there, it was amazing. You always know, playing with Jon, it's going to be a lot of fun. The great thing with these fans, obviously everyone knew who they were rooting for; they were rooting for Jon. But they were very supportive of myself and Sam (Bairstow), and they were a respectful and amazing group of people out there watching us play."

Eagle hunting

Zanotti may be outside the leading group on three under par but the Paraguayan had quite the Saturday highlight reel, with a pair of eagle twos in four holes.

That matched the feat of Dean, who chipped in for eagles on the fourth and 14th during Friday's round of 65. The Englishman was at it again on Saturday, this time from 168 yards on the 12th fairway.
